“WHERE AM I?” ANSWER — AUGUST 2022
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (AUG. 11, 2022) – Every day, dozens of people come to Middletown Town Hall.
Some take a few moments checking the old pictures of historic Middletown, but many walk right by, focused on paying their tax bill, getting a marriage license or other objective.
Next time you’re in the government building at 350 East Main Road, take a moment if you have one to stop and see the evolution of Middletown from decades ago.
As part of the display from the Middletown Historical Society, the “Hallway of History” on the first floor between the council chambers and the Town Clerk’s office features dozens of pictures of old time Middletown.
Whether it’s auto racing on Second Beach, the stone marker at Two-Mile Corner or overhead shots of Chicken City, there are pictures from across the community.
The display is just one of a number maintained by the volunteer historical society to teach residents and visitors about Middletown before to better understand who we are today.
