MIDDLETOWN MEETING MATTERS
MIDDLETOWN TOWN COUNCIL
When: Monday night.
Where: Middletown Town Hall, 350 East Main Road.
Absent: None.
Of note:
- Postponed discussion about the latest with the town’s affordable housing efforts to a future meeting because the town’s Affordable Housing Committee hadn’t had a chance to meet on the subject. The committee is next scheduled to meet on July 25 at 6 pm in the Fire Station community room.
- Approved several changes to the town’s traffic code ordinances overseeing electric motorized bicycles. Visit https://mdl.town/EBikes for more about the revised regulations.
- Gave the okay to submit a grant application to tap into state climate resiliency money to help fund the replacement of culverts on Green End Avenue and Berkeley Avenue, both identified as key projects to help reduce flooding.
- Voted to re-advertise for additional people to serve on the seven-member Tax Exploration Committee. Leonidas Amarant, Terri Flynn, Don Morin and Antone Viveiros submitted their names, but the council said more people were needed for the board. The group’s charge to work for a real estate tax system that is “simple, transparent, neutral and stable” was approved. Visit https://mdl.town/TEC for more about the effort.
- Appointed Manuel M. Marques and Kyle Cavallaro to the Personnel Review Board.
Next regular meeting: Monday, Aug. 5 at 6:30 pm in Town Hall.
