Just because school is out for summer doesn't mean there isn't work happening at Middletown High.
One student -- Laa'mea Arrieta -- is painting a detailed mural in the office of Principal Dr. Jeff Heath to bring new life and beauty to the school.
This morning, Laa'mea Arrieta paints a new mural in the office of Principal Dr. Jeff Heath as part of her Senior Project at Middletown High. Laa'mea said she draws inspiration from art work and plans on pursuing a bachelor's degree in fine arts after graduation. Ideally, Laa'mea said she'd love help design video games after college. Before she was given the go ahead, Laa'mea had to provide a detailed explanation for the mural and what she hoped it would convey.
"I love art and it's a great space (for a mural), so why not?" Laa'mea said. "I've already put a bunch of time into the design and it's going to be awesome when it's all done."
"She's put so much thought into this," Heath said. "I love that it's aquatic in nature and the colors and the message of it really speaks to me. Just like Laa'mea's mural, we do everything here with those stories and ideas in mind."
