MIDDLETOWN MEETING MATTERS
Middletown Town Council
When: Monday night.
Where: Middletown Town Hall, 350 East Main Road.
Absent: None.
Of note, the council:
- Held a moment of silence for longtime Canvassing Authority Clerk Cathy Stahl and Anthony Ponte, father of former Forest Avenue School Principal Stephen Ponte, both who passed away recently. Council President Paul M. Rodrigues said Stahl and Ponte would be missed and the Town extended its sincerest apologies to their families. “Middletown lost two very good people…” Rodrigues said. “We need more people like those two.”
- Voted to start regular council meetings at 6 p.m. and end the sessions at 9:30 p.m. The move was made to finish meetings earlier in the evening.
- Referred recommended changes to the Town’s mixed use zoning ordinances back to the Planning Board for additional review because of potential issues some suggested uses next to residential property. A timeline for the item to return to the council was not discussed Monday night.
- Appointed John Bagwill to the Coastal Resources Management Council, Robert Crump and William R. Jones to the Library Board of Trustees and Manuel M. Marques to the Tax Assessment Review Board.
