MIDDLETOWN MEETING MATTERS
Middletown Town Council
When: Monday night.
Where: Town Hall, 350 East Main Road.
Absent: None.
Of note, the council:
- Set a Nov. 1 workshop to meet with the School Building Committee to go over the group’s work to date and plans to renovate the schools it has. Although the volunteer group hasn’t rolled out specifics, educational officials have said they’re looking to fix what they have and try to take advantage of up to 50 percent reimbursement from the state for any work.
- Ratified a one-year rollover for teacher assistants with the School Department unanimously. “I think it’s a no brainer. It’s (a) 1 percent (increase) and a rollover…” President Paul M. Rodrigues said. “We appreciate their willingness to roll this over in good faith.”
- Received a report from Town Administrator Shawn J. Brown about an array of issues before the Town from senior affordable housing to consolidation of school and Town operations, taxes and other items. Brown said everything was moving forward smoothly and the council would get an update on all the work next month.
Next regular meeting: Monday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m., in Town Hall.
