Throughout the community last week, Earth Day festivities were in full bloom. Among them were a free tree giveaway at the Middletown Public Library. According to organizer Candise Prewitt, the library teamed up with Neighborhood Forest as part of their 12th Annual Earth Day Tree Giveaway. They are a nonprofit organization and provided the trees at no cost to the library. Prewitt said 27 families and 47 children participated this year through the Middletown Public Library. In all, Neighborhood Forest gave away 18,500 trees in 35 states this Earth Day.
