A well-attended informational meeting Monday from the Middletown Public Library drew a number of ideas and suggestions for a Joint Community Learning Center, an effort between Newport and #MiddletownRI.

LEARNING CENTER WORK CONTINUES

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (OCTOBER 3, 2024) – There was a great turnout at a Joint Community Learning Center informational meeting this week at the Middletown Public Library.
Middletown Healthy Communities Coordinator Lori Turner reported residents from Middletown and Newport shared their programming and design ideas for the soon to be upgraded Florence Gray Center at 1 York St. in Newport.
Additional community sessions will be held on Oct. 9 and 15 at the Community College of Rhode Island Newport campus at 1 John H. Chafee Blvd. as well as on Oct. 22 at the Middletown Public Library, 700 West Main Road. All sessions will start at 5:30 pm.

The City of Newport and Town of Middletown received $7.5 to make building upgrades that will enable programming related to education and workforce development as well as health and wellness.
