MAKING THE HOLIDAYS BRIGHTER
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (DECEMBER 20, 2024) – One Asterisk Crossfit Gym helped make the holidays a little brighter for students at Gaudet Middle School.
Staff and members of the local gym — owned by Patrol Officer Jean Young — “adopted” the classroom of Grade 6 English Language Arts Teacher Caroline Corr to donate items off her Amazon wishlist.
Young said her classroom was selected because of the wide array of items on her wishlist. This included soccer balls for outdoor recess to general classroom supplies, hygiene items and books in Spanish to add to the classroom library for Multilingual Learner (MLL) students.
Corr and other Gaudet teachers — Caitlin Santos, Heidi Gauch, Rachel Kravchuk and Brittany Williams — all received items off their Giving Tuesday Teacher wishlists. The idea for the wishlists was from an internet influencer out of Texas and raised more than $1.3 million for Title I schools across the country.
To give to the cause, Gaudet teachers asked people to visit, https://www.thingsiboughtandliked.com/teacher online and search the term “Middletown, RI” for the wishlists of local educators.
